JEFFREY ROBINS SOLO SHOW LOS FELIZ

Jeffrey Robbins photography solo show in Los Feliz

For our holiday season solo show in the Los Feliz gallery, we welcome L.A.-based photographer Jeffrey Robins with a gorgeous portfolio of work created in and around Death Valley, CA entitled ALMOST HEAVEN. We hope you will join us for the opening reception of this new installation on November 12th from 5 to 7pm.

"Almost Heaven is a series of images created inside and around Death Valley, CA, featuring people who live there and the places they live. Despite living in one of the most severe climates in the world and oftentimes suffering from dire financial straits, the people who live in the desert all describe it as being 'like paradise.' This project is about the tension presented in Death Valley between life and death, where people live harmoniously with the desert and, after reconciling the danger that exists therein, find beauty in the debris that surrounds them. Through the process of making photographs of people in Death Valley, I not only discovered the peace that they had found in embracing the unknown, but I discovered mine." - Jeffrey Robins

Jeffrey Robins is a fine art photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. He was born in San Diego, CA (1989), where he was introduced to photography while finalizing his BFA at the University of California, San Diego in 2013. In 2019, he created a body of work about the passing of his grandfather, which was selected as a finalist for the Charcoal Book Club Publishing Prize. This experience catalyzed his desire to pursue his practice further and he earned his MFA from Hartford Art School’s low-residency photography program in 2022, where he was acknowledged with the Mary Frey Book Award for his thesis project Almost Heaven and its notable content, design, and voice.
