HEATHER LEVINE and MATTHEW ROSENQUIST in MILL VALLEY

Heather Levine and Matthew Rosenquist original ceramic sculptures

Los Angeles based artists Matthew Rosenquist and Heather Levine come together in a collaborative exhibition at ESQUELETO Mill Valley, exploring the expressive possibilities of ceramics and wood. Blending Rosenquist's sculptural story telling with Levine's refined, organic forms, the show reflects a shared curiosity about material and process. This collaboration offers a fresh perspective on their individual practices, highlighting the unexpected connections that emerge through creative exchange.

Rosenquist is known for his sculptural explorations of surrealism and storytelling. Using mixed media and found objects, his work blends the playful with the profound, inviting viewers into dreamlike environments that blur the lines between the subconscious and the physical world. Levine's ceramic work explores form, texture and the quiet elegance of handmade objects. Through subtle shifts in shape and surface, her pieces evoke a sense of calm, rhythm, and timelessness, drawing attention to the beauty found in simplicity. Together, they offer a quiet conversation between form and material, revealing beauty in contrast, balance and the handmade.

A New York native, HEATHER LEVINE now lives and works out of Los Angeles where she creates her stunning, hand-crafted ceramic wall hangings, lamps, and objects. Levine is influenced by Scandinavian Design, the California landscape and textile design of the 1960s.

MATTHEW ROSENQUIST received an MFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Georgia in 1998. As a visiting artist at Lux Art Institute, San Diego he participated in redefining the museum experience to make art more accessible and personally meaningful.
