The Oakland shop is welcoming Susan Maddux in February for an exhibit of her juicy soft sculpture. Susan's wabi sabi approach to her art form results in organic outcomes full of delight and wonder. Come enjoy the work in person at the opening reception for the artist on February 7th.
From the Artist: Susan Maddux is a Los Angeles based fiber artist. Her work combines painting and sculpture into unique forms evocative of the colors and warmth of her native Hawaii and influenced by the arts of the Pacific. A painter and textile designer, Susan was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute and spent many years working as an artist in New York before returning to the West Coast.
This work celebrates slow, quiet contemplation and welcomes the unexpected in an attempt to make an emotional connection with the viewer. Each piece is made of individual acrylic paintings on canvas folded into sculptural forms that conceal, reveal and transform the materials.
Please join us for an opening reception for the artist on
Friday, February 7th, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
Light refreshments will be provided.
